THECARPARK UPGRADE PROJECT - Whats happening.

Pace Road carpark is getting a refresh in early 2024. This will protect the trees while making the area safe, connected, and more sustainable.

The refresh includes:

  • Redesigning the bays to maximise layout and protect the trees
  • Improving traffic flow and safety for all vehicles and pedestrians
  • Connected pathways, new paving, crosswalks, and median strips
  • Easily accessible ACROD parking
  • Seating & bike racks
  • A new community space

Below is the Carpark Concept Design.

A detailed drawing is available on the City of Kwinana website. Once the City has awarded the tender for the works we will share the timeline with you.

The refresh includes the addition of an exciting, NEW community space: the Koort of Medina. A collaboration with the Medina Residents’ Group, the space will provide a comfortable, connected, and inclusive place, in the very heart of Medina.

  • The City understands that the community would like to see the artwork on the wall of the old Post Office refreshed with something new. For us to make sure we get the best outcome, we would like to first hear your ideas in this 2 minute survey for the type of visuals you would like to see here. This wall will be documented and painted with a plain base coat in preparation for a new visual during the refresh of the carpark.

    The Post Office

Medina’s first temporary post office was opened in 1954 near the current day Tavern.   It was not until December 1959 that the permanent Post Office was opened at this location, where it was collocated with the Commonwealth Savings Bank.  Being located on the corner, it soon became the hangout for local teenagers. The post office was relocated in 1979.
