It's been quite the bustling week at the construction site with lots happening!
- Just a friendly reminder: your favourite shops are still open and ready for business during all the construction excitement. Let's rally behind our local retailers and show them some love!
- Breakfast and lunch are available at The Green Barista or Kattlers Deli. Use the laneway behind the shops for easy access between 5am - 8am.
- A big shoutout to everyone for adapting so well to the parking changes. Remember that there is extra parking available behind the shops! There's a convenient laneway to park along, plus the shops have their own rear access parking and service area. Feel free to park there during the upgrade. Check out the handy map for a visual guide.
- Stay in the loop by subscribing for regular updates on the project.
- Curious about what else is happening in Medina? Why not check out the Medina Residents Group Facebook page for more local news and updates.

Project update 10 April 2024
- Construction commenced on Monday 8 April. The carpark out the front of the shops (north side) has been fenced off while construction is underway. The map above shows all the alternate parking for the duration of the upgrade.
- Parking - Remember parking is available on Pace Road and in the Medina Hall and Tavern carparks. Parking is also available behind the shops; there is a laneway and the shops also have a service lane directly behind them for you to use.
- Shops are open, use the footpath to access the shops. Please support our local traders through this challenging time.
- This work is essential to ensure a safe, accessible surface for pedestrians and to increase longevity of the trees.
Again, thank you for your understanding and support for our local traders during this time.

Work to upgrade the carpark will start Monday, 8 April and continue for approximately 12 weeks. While the work is being completed, temporary fencing will be put up to enclose the car park and part of the Medina Green. Footpath access to shops will remain, however, there is a requirement to close the footpath for a very short time during the work while the footpath is resurfaced. There will be some disruption to businesses and the City will work closely with owners to navigate this. An updated timeline will be posted on Love My Kwinana once the construction company has started. The Decals (pictured below) have been stuck to the path to advise everyone of the work being done. The QR code takes people to this page.
The car park was built in the 1950s and needs work to make it safe, accessible and ensure the longevity of the trees. The City is investing over $700,000 to upgrade this important neighbourhood center. If you have a question that is not answered in our FAQ's you are welcome to contact the team at the City, our contact details are in the righthand column of this page.

The City understands that the community would like to see the artwork on the wall of the old Post Office refreshed with something new. For us to make sure we get the best outcome, we would like to first hear your ideas for the type of visuals you would like to see here. This wall will be documented and painted with a fresh base coat during the carpark refresh in early 2024, in preparation for a new visual.
We took these brightly coloured boards along to the Medina Festival, and enjoyed talking to the community, hearing your thoughts and aspirations for this artwork. If you didn't get a chance to take part, you can have your say in the 2 minute survey here.
Thank you!
