Help make our Kwinana City Centre a great place to live, work and play!

We understand the importance of public spaces, community facilities and healthy local economies in creating great spaces for people to live, work and play.

Several projects are currently underway to enhance the livability, vibrancy, and connectedness of the Kwinana City Centre. These include the refurbishment of the Council Civic and Administration Building, the redevelopment of the Recquatic, and upgrades at the Marketplace. To build on this work, we are developing a Kwinana City Centre Place Plan to gather the aspirations and ideas of all City Centre users. This Plan will ensure that community insights are transformed into meaningful, community‑led actions so that, together, we can create an even better place—one that people feel connected to and truly love.

We are currently up to Phase 3 of the project. Thank you to everyone who has already shared thoughts and ideas - whether you came to a pop-up, talked to us in-person or filled out the online survey!

During the engagement, Phase 2, we talked to lots of different people - kids, young people, families, shoppers, workers, Recquatic, Art Centre, ZONE Youth Space and Darius Resource Centre users, shop owners and people from the Retirement Village. Your ideas helped us create the Draft City Centre Place Plan and now we want to check in to make sure we have got it right!

To do this, we’d love you to fill out the Phase 3 Loop Back Survey. It asks if you support the draft plan, gives you a chance to tell us what you think and if we have captured your priorities and aspirations for our public and shared spaces in Kwinana’s City Centre.

You are also welcome to join us at one of our looping back engagements, pop-ups or activations.

The Draft City Centre Place Plan includes:

  • A snapshot of Kwinana's unique character
  • Clear, community-led actions
  • Guiding principles for how the City and community can collaborate on local projects

Using the Project for Public spaces "What Makes A Great Place?" framework which has four key attributes,

Access & Linkages
The visual and physical accessibility of a place and its connections to surroundings.
Comfort & Image
Perceptions around safety, cleanliness and availability of places to sit or rest.
Uses & Activities
The special and unique reasons why people visit and continue to return to a place.
