Urban Road Safety Program - Wellard Village Centre Precinct
Update
Thank you for your contribution to the Urban Road Safety Program for the Wellard Village Centre Precinct.
Public consultation has now closed, and all feedback received is currently under review. Updates on the outcomes and next steps will be provided once the review is complete.
The Project
The City of Kwinana, in partnership with Main Roads WA, is implementing targeted road safety improvements within the Bertram South-West and Wellard Village Centre precincts. This initiative is fully funded through Main Roads WA's Low-Cost Urban Road Safety Program and aims to reduce crash risks and lower vehicle speeds, creating a safer environment for all road users.
Main Roads have identified and prioritised Wellard Village Centre areas (bounded by Lambeth Circle and Charing Cross) based on crash data analysis and considering locations with increased pedestrian and cyclist activity. The program emphasises area-wide or whole-of-street approaches and collaboration with stakeholders. On going evaluation through pre- and post-construction monitoring, with lessons learned informing future programs.
As part of this project, road safety treatments will be designed and installed along:
Wellard Village Centre Precinct
- The Strand
- Runnymede Gate
- Chiswick Parade
- Twickenham Parade
And the following treatments and improvements are planned in this area:
- Entry Statement
- Zebra/Wombat Crossing (At existing raised intersection and flush crossing in low-speed environment, reflecting pedestrian desire line)
- Coloured Road Surfacing
Share Your Experience
It is important that people who live, work, and travel through these areas can share their experiences regarding traffic issues in their local neighbourhood. We want to incorporate this knowledge into the design process to create tailored traffic plans that address local issues.
We invited residents to provide their feedback by Monday, 22 December 2025, consultation now closed.
