How long does the challenge go for?
The challenge runs for 4 weeks, starting on 1st September and finishing on Monday 30 September 2025. You can join at any time during the challenge, but the earlier you register, the more chances you’ll have to win prizes and track your progress!
How do I register?
Simply fill out the registration form on this page. It only takes a few minutes and helps us stay in touch with updates, prize announcements, and motivation tips.
Is there a cost to join?
No – the Step into Spring challenge is completely free for all Kwinana community members!
Do I need a smartwatch or fitness tracker?
You can track your steps with a phone app or request a free pedometer from the City of Kwinana (available from Tuesday 20 August, while stocks last – first come, first served).
How do I report my steps?
You’ll receive a weekly reminder to submit your steps through an online form. You can also upload photos, share walking routes, and tell us about your favourite walking moments each week!
Where can I find local walking routes or groups?
Check out the Heart Foundation Walking Group finder to see what’s near you. You can also share or discover local routes through the challenge each week.
Do I need to walk a certain number of steps to qualify?
No minimum required – this challenge is all about setting your own goals and improving from where you are. Every step counts, and we’re here to support you no matter your starting point.
