Bike Month, held in October, is a statewide celebration of bike riding that encourages people of all ages to ride more often for fun, fitness, and transport.

This Bike Month, students and teachers across all Kwinana schools are invited to team up and take part in 'Bike to Uluru' – a fun, free and community-driven bike riding challenge that brings schools together to get active, feel great, and explore the outdoors on two wheels to symbolically ride the 2,088 km distance to Uluru!

The challenge for City of Kwinana schools, kicks off on 13th October, Week 1 of Term 4, and runs on school days for the remaining three weeks of October, ending 31st October. The perfect opportunity to give your school community the chance to ride more, bond as a team, and compete for fantastic prizes!

If 700 students across the city each complete just one 3km journey to school during this period, together we’ll have travelled the equivalent distance to Uluru — hitting our target in a fun and meaningful way.

Why bike riding?

According to health experts, regular bike riding can:

  • Boost your mood, energy levels, and mental health - children arrive to school happy and motivated

  • Support healthy lifestyles, increased fitness and reduce the risk of serous illness

  • Promote teamwork and build school spirit

Bike Month is the perfect time to build lifelong healthy habits together – and what better way than riding for your school! It is fun, eco-friendly, and one of the best ways to stay active.
