History of the Park
The park was built - yes built! - by our very own Kwinana Apex Club back in 1972. Apex was a men's service club that worked to enhance family life by adding great community parks and hosting events. Creating the park was a real service to the then Town of Kwinana and it became a well used and loved place by all the locals. Over the years there have been upgrades to the park and interesting events. A big shout out must be made to Apex Kwinana (no longer operational) and Rotary Club of Kwinana for the incredible work and fantastic amenities created for the community to enjoy.
Apex Park Timeline:
1972 - Apex Rotary Park was originally built by the Apex Club of Kwinana. The community loved the park and local's used it to play basketball, have fun on the equipment and catch up.
1972 - The Medina Aboriginal Cultural Centre (MACC) was officially formed.
1973 - The Medina Aboriginal Cultural Centre (MACC) was given the premises on Leasham Way, opposite the park.
1979 - The Apex Club of Kwinana installed a time capsule under an artistic centrepiece in the Apex Park, corner of Summerton Road and Gilmore Avenue on 18 February. At that time, envelopes were sold for $1 so members of the community could stow their photographs and letters. These items were then placed in a stainless-steel capsule to be raised on the 50th anniversary of Kwinana. The items were removed in 2004 by the Apex Club.

2006 - Apex Park was renovated in 2006 by the Rotary Club of Kwinana, who replaced a dangerous wooden pergola with a metal shade structure and added wooden tables, seats, and a gas BBQ.
2023 - Community Consultation for the next park upgrade.
